Welcome to Broseley, Shropshire

Broseley was formed in the eleventh century, as a clearing in the woods. The town managed to prosper and grow into the most populated town in Shropshire during the industrial revolution, with a rich industrial history.

Becoming a world leader in clay pipes (the smoking variety!), roof tiles, pottery from Caughley and supplier of Shropshire clay, coal and lime to the world.

Its success encouraged the building of the iron bridge across the river Severn.

Broseley stands on the edge of the wooded valley leading to the Ironbridge Gorge with great access to its long history. In the other directon lies Much Wenlock and Shrewsbury.

With a mix of Victorian and new housing, the town is a centre for tourism, places to eat and stay, and has great access to the beautiful countryside that is Shropshire, with beautiful walks! Its community buildings of the Birchmeadow Centre and the Victoria Hall, along with the churches, pubs, cricket club and Social club, provide an array of the things to do.
